Winter is finally arriving. This is a reminder that when the weather is going to dip down to freezing temperatures on top of strong winds that’s the perfect storm for pipes to freeze.

If you have a crawl space make sure that any open spots are sealed up to prevent drafts.

Any pipes that are on outside walls open up cupboard doors to allow heat inside. As an added precaution you can always trickle the faucet to keep water flowing.

Open heat vents in basement.

Lastly, make sure the main shut off to the house is in working condition in the event of a burst pipe.
