**please pay attention to the following advice regarding the upcoming freeze**

-Change your air filters now. Dirty air filters impede air through your system, causing heat to build up during the much longer run times. This causes furnaces to get too hot and shut down for a period of time(sometimes hours). This is the #1 reason for service calls during a prolonged severe winter event.

-Heat pump customers: don’t be concerned when your heat pump is frosting up. This is normal in extreme cold. Be aware of the defrost cycle as well! This usually occurs on cold nights(when you’re sleeping) but will be happening this weekend during the day as well. Know that the defrost cycle does cause funny noises at the outdoor unit, the outdoor fan stops and many times steam will rise from the unit too. This is not smoke. It’s steam and is normal also. One more word to heat pump customers; the freezing rain could cause the outdoor fan blade to become imbalanced with ice and cause noise/vibration when spinning. If this occurs, turn off and pour hot water on the blades to melt the ice.
