Every window in this house was placed on purpose.
Not for symmetry. Not because it looked good on a plan. Because we asked: what do you want to see when you wake up? When you’re cooking dinner? Walking down the stairs?
The answer was the rolling hills, the trees, the lake: the reason they built here in the first place.

Every family has that corner. You know the one. Backpacks on the floor. Shoes in the doorway. The pile that somehow grows overnight. We built this one a better option. Four cubbies. A bench. Shiplap back panels. Storage up top for the stuff that doesn’t need to be seen. Every hook placed at a height that actually gets used. This is what it looks like when a mudroom does its job.
