Fairbanks Alaska is a bit more interesting than I was expecting! It’s in the interior and it’s not uncommon to be 40 below zero in the winter. But right now it’s in the 60s. However in the 2 days we have been here the leaves on the birch have gone from mostly green to yellow or orange! Winter is coming!
Here are pictures of the Alaskan pipeline, small section, it still transports hundreds of gallons of oil a day from the attic circle to Pacific ports, over 800 miles without a loss since the early 1970s. We enjoyed a trip by raft down the Chena river and then one of the best car collections I have ever been to. None of the cars are past the mid 1930s and most were actually collected from Alaskan owners. All of them are taken out for a drive at least once a year. Electric, steam and gasoline models! Nothing new under the sun!!

Our trip to Alaska includes a trip to the highest mountain in North America, Denali. Weather forecast was rain all week but we only had a little, our trip started out in constant fog while driving. According to Alaska only 30% of visitors to Denal National Park get to see the mountain, 70% of the time it’s wrapped in fog or clouds. When we arrived a camper told us he had been there for three days and hadn’t been able to see Denali. As we drove along the highway we were surprised to see we were in the 30%! Kind of a life lesson, always pursue the highest goal even when others say it’s impossible!
