Introducing our newest product: Ventilated Precast™.

With energy costs on the rise and summer right around the corner, we’ve developed an innovative solution that keeps buildings cool while maintaining the architectural finish you expect from us. By incorporating strategically placed ventilation openings into each panel, our design maximizes natural airflow, reduces energy usage, and gives occupants a more immersive connection to the outdoors. Best of all - there’s no additional cost for this enhanced performance.

Contact your LAPPCO representative today to learn more about the future of “open-air” design.

Mockups are a critical step in the quality control process for an architectural precaster! Most color and finish options can be shown on traditional samples, but smaller samples simply cannot replicate the details achieved in a full-scale mockup.

In the case of this mockup for Franciscan Health Munster, multiple elements are incorporated into a single panel — including multiple brick colors and styles, several architectural face mixes, and a number of other unique details. After being erected on site, this mockup will have windows installed along with a caulk weep system to test all components well before production panels arrive on the jobsite.

Work hard, play hard! Recently, a group of our plant & yard team traveled to East Chicago Marina for a day of fishing on Lake Michigan, reeling in king salmon, lake trout, and coho. A day like this is the perfect way to cement lasting bonds - and it’s even better when you come home with a haul like this!

Er****on is officially underway at Sherwood Elementary School in Highland Park, IL!

This marks Phase #2 of the district’s long-term modernization efforts to enhance their elementary schools. Approximately 40 architectural precast panels - each featuring a custom blend of four thin brick colors from Taylor Clay - will form the school’s new gymnasium.

The selected brick matches the color and finish of the existing building, helping the new structure blend seamlessly into the current campus.

Right around the 2:00 minute mark, you’ll see Creative Erector's crane arriving on site, followed shortly after by our first precast panel. We're really looking forward to seeing the finished product here!

Dr. Alexander shares how the construction of Calumet Middle School's Gymnasium addition is shaping up as he intros the construction time-lapse video.

Scheduled to open later this year, this new training facility for Ironworkers Local 63 will allow union apprentices to build & test curtainwall systems within a controlled, indoor environment. This new high-tech training facility was designed to attract a younger workforce to the trade, while also providing a space for ironworkers to show off their skills.

As noted in the article, “using structural precast shaved dollars off the budget and, because it incorporates more steel, ensures that the structure will be sturdy enough to accommodate the type of training the ironworkers will do.”

At just 12,000 sq ft, a glass structure is rising in suburban Broadview, outside Chicago, where future occupants will be repeatedly raising up glass curtain walls inside the building.

Completed in December 2022, the combination Medical Office Building and Parking Garage in Oak Brook is both modern and contemporary. Consisting of 171 total panels and boasting a limestone-like mix design, this new medical facility is clean, sophisticated, and enhances the overall charm of the Oak Brook Commons complex.

Designed by Antunovich Associates, architectural precast concrete was utilized to provide a low-maintenance, long-lasting exterior enclosure that not only showcased the high-tech design aesthetic, but also contributed to the building’s thermal efficiency and expedited the overall construction timeline.

Several meticulously coordinated elements also played a role in expediting the construction process. Ground level panels near the main entrance featured cast-in Mesabi Black granite; this was coordinated during the shop drawings phase, with precise detailing ensuring each piece seamlessly lined up with neighboring pieces. In addition, the curtainwall contractor supplied over 1,000 embeds to be cast into these panels. A series of initial coordination meetings between the production staff, project engineers, and the curtain wall contractor allowed for the accurate placement of these embeds on the final shop drawings, significantly reducing the on-site work that would have otherwise been necessary.

As depicted in the final job photos, the panels were cast in a wide variety of shapes to minimize visible joints. These panels also boasted multiple levels of projection, making otherwise flat, mundane panels pop with detail and beauty. The dedicated production staff's meticulously crafted formwork was pivotal in achieving this level of precision seen in the final product.
