KISS OF LIFE" 💕💕💕
In 1968, the author received the Pulitzer Prize for this photograph - one of the most prestigious awards in the United States, which is awarded for achievements in music, cinema, theater and journalism.
The picture shows two electricians, Randall Champion and Jay Thompson, hanging from a power pole. That day there was a strong heat and nothing foreshadowed trouble. The hum of air conditioners in July 1967 was heard throughout the state of Florida. Because of them, in the city of Jacksonville, there was an overload of power lines, and this caused a power surge.
Randall and Jay were doing routine maintenance on a live line when Randall accidentally touched one of the wires. A discharge of 4000 V passed through the body and his heart stopped. For understanding: during the ex*****on in the electric chair, a voltage of 2000 V is used
Randall's lifeless body hung from the harness. But his partner Jay did not lose his head, realizing that every second is precious, he began to give him artificial respiration right on the pole. It was very inconvenient, but there was no other way out. In such a situation, it is difficult to conduct a normal resuscitation, but Jay still tried to start his friend's heart until he had a weak pulse.
Only after that he unhooked his partner's insurance and, throwing him over his shoulder, went down to the ground. By the time the rescuers arrived (they were called by professional photographer Rocco Morabito, who happened to be at the scene), Champion was already conscious on the ground.
Not only was he saved, thanks to Thompson, but he lived another 35 years. The electrician died in 2003 at the age of 64.
Thompson is alive today.

Until the flow of the Chicago River was reversed in 1900, Chicago sewage went into Lake Michigan. There were several cholera outbreaks and many people died. In the 1860s Engineer Ellis Chesbrough was hired to design a drinking water system.
In 1864, a tunnel was constructed 60ft below Lake Michigan, 2-½ miles off shore to bring drinking water to the Chicago Avenue (now Michigan Ave) Pumping Station. The tunnel was dug in two directions and met less than 7” out of alignment.
This 1873 photo is the Water Crib completed in 1866 , and the Pumping Station was dedicated in 1867. Remarkably the Michigan Avenue Water Tower survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Hey folks, Just wanted to share this since it is actually a problem in many communities.

In light of current events, a problem has come to our attention. With the lack of toilet paper in stores, people may start using and flushing products other than toilet paper down their toilets. This can and will cause many issues. It can clog plumbing inside the home, cause blockages in the public sanitary system and clog pumps designed to move this sewage. Any blockages or restrictions in flow can cause property damage as well as public health risks. The blockages on the public sanitary system can affect numerous homes and people. PLEASE DO NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet to avoid any potential problems. Any product that is able to be flushed will have a label saying so. This is a problem for the Orland Park sanitary system normally, and during these times it can become more of an issue.
