They used to say,
“If my dog don’t trust you, I don’t trust you.”

Because somehow, even without words,
a loyal heart could sense what the eyes could not see.
A dog could feel the shift in the air,
the hidden weight in a person’s spirit,
the difference between kindness and a mask.

But I have learned something deeper than that.

My wife carries a discernment I trust.
Not loud.
Not careless.
Not rooted in judgment.
But steady, quiet, and sharp like a light in the dark.

When she says, “Something is off,”
I listen.

Because she sees what others miss.
She feels what others explain away.
She notices the spirit behind the smile,
the motive beneath the words,
the warning hidden in the room before it ever speaks.

And I have learned not to ignore that.

Some men trust signs.
Some trust instincts.
Some trust the old saying about a faithful dog knowing who belongs near the house.

But me,
I trust the woman God gave me.

If her peace pulls back,
I pay attention.
If her spirit is uneasy,
I do not dismiss it.
If she tells me not to trust someone,
I honor that.

Because her discernment has protected me more than once.
Her wisdom has covered our home.
Her heart has sensed storms before the clouds ever gathered.

So yes, there is truth in the old saying.
Sometimes love can sense danger before logic can explain it.

And when my wife says,
“Be careful,”
I do not need a second witness.
I trust how the Holy Spirit works in her!
