This is when supply lines, drain lines, and vent stacks get positioned before the drywall goes up. Move something a few inches in the wrong direction and you're looking at a costly fix after the fact.

Sewer line problems don't usually happen overnight — they build up slowly and give you signals along the way. Here's what to watch for:

→ Multiple drains backing up at the same time
→ Gurgling sounds coming from toilets or drains
→ Sewage smell inside the house or in the yard
→ Unusually green or soggy patches in your lawn
→ Toilets that bubble when you run the sink

Any one of these is worth a call. A camera inspection can tell you exactly what's going on before a slow problem becomes a very expensive one.

The first few minutes after a pipe bursts make a significant difference in how much damage you're dealing with afterward.

Shutting off the main supply valve is the single most important thing you can do — it stops the flow immediately. If you don't know where yours is, find it before you need it. It's usually near your water meter or where the main line enters the house.
