Power County Open Memorial Rodeo

Power County Open Memorial Rodeo Keeping rodeo alive and well in Power County! To get this rodeo rolling John & RD went to the bank (IB & T) and took out a loan for $500. WOW!

The very first rodeo held in American Falls was sanctioned by the Eastern Idaho Rodeo Association in the spring of 1971 as the kickoff for this new Rodeo Association also known as the EIRA. Committee members were RD Kuttler, Gary & Mardean Miller, John & Maxine Olsen, Ralph & Susan Barrett, Jack & Edith Morris. The banker at that time was Dick Gavin. He gave them 2 years to pay off this loan. The

Stock Contractor was P & P Rodeo out of Darlington, ID & they produced the rodeo for a percent of the gate. As John & Gary recall they had 300-400 people attend this rodeo. The judges for this rodeo were Kenny Hall & Benny Freeman. They had 87 bull riders, 78 bareback riders, & 54 saddle bronc riders. The rodeo has been sanctioned by the Intermountain Professional Rodeo Association & Co Approved with the Idaho Cowboys Association who classifies themselves as semi-pro organizations, which involve both amateur and professional cowboy & cowgirls from all walks of life. Both associations’ rodeos cover a vast area in Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon & some areas of Utah. We have made the move to be an "Open" rodeo and joined the Idaho Saddle Series, which promotes the success of local open events. We look forward to the future! Thank you to all our supporters, none of this could happen without you!

Let’s BREAKAWAY!!

We’re looking forward to a great season. All dates are subject to change or cancellation.

Rather than a season-end prize, we’re going to create a little side pot for Ropers that come to 4+ events AND the final event in October. This will be for the Novice and the Open respectively.

All events will feature an electric eye barrier.
Novice, Open: clean bell collar catch only. Youth, loop must pass over the head first.

UPDATE 5/19:

Youth & Novice will run first, together.

We will pay fast time in each round for the open, as well as in the youth and the novice if we have more than 10 entries per contest. Fast time pay will be equal to entry fee for each contest.

If there are no qualified times in the short go, payout will be on 2 head.

Please be sure to help push your cattle out of the arena. Support each other and offer help to your fellow competitors, especially our youth and novice. Be kind to the help around the arena, and we welcome helpful suggestions. We are grateful to everyone who comes out and makes these events happen, and we are always looking to grow and improve.

Pre-entries are always welcome to help us plan cattle!

Shoot us a message or call/text with any questions! 208-479-4091

Thanks again to everyone that came out to our final event!

We had 3 gritty girls in our youth event, Maddie Watson, Rylee Watson, and Charlee Porath. Maddie walked away with the win and $145 richer!

We had 8 entries in the Novice Horse event and 18 in the open. After 2 full goes, Kindee and Delaney grabbed the fast times, and the short go featured 7 open runs and 2 Novice. Haven Jones kept the pace and took the Novice win, while Delaney Kunau closed the night with another solid finish and the win.

Thank you to ICCU for sponsoring our jackpot events this season! Anderson's Body and Glass also provided a prize sponsorship and Delaney will get a cool new trophy headstall.

Thanks to the many helping hands, tonight and all season, that have made these events possible. You’re rockstars!
