Today we’re looking back with pride on the Soldiers of the 1457th Engineer Battalion who deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and executed their mission with professionalism, courage, and grit.

During their deployment, the Battalion conducted critical engineer operations in high-risk environments, including:
▪️ Building protective barriers and infrastructure
▪️ Clearing tunnels and hardened enemy positions
▪️ Conducting convoy security and route operations
▪️ Constructing ranges and security facilities that supported stability efforts

Through long days, dangerous missions, and demanding conditions, these Soldiers demonstrated what it means to be ready, capable, and resilient. Their service stands as a lasting part of our Battalion’s legacy and a reminder of the impact engineers bring to the fight.

We honor their dedication, their sacrifice, and the families who supported them every step of the way.

The Battalion proudly owns the Homeland Response Force Search and Extraction mission.

This mission prepares our Soldiers to respond when disaster strikes — whether natural or man-made — by locating, accessing, and safely extracting personnel from collapsed or hazardous environments. Through continuous training, our teams refine technical rescue skills, engineer expertise, and coordinated response procedures to ensure we are ready when our communities need us most.

From breaching operations and structural stabilization to casualty extraction and teamwork under pressure, our Soldiers train to operate efficiently, safely, and professionally in complex emergency scenarios. This mission reflects our commitment not only to warfighting readiness, but to protecting and supporting the citizens we serve at home.

Ready to Respond. Ready to Serve.
