Boersma Lawn Care Boersma Lawn Care

The highest quality full service lawn care company in Iowa. He began adding part-time employees and a chemical application enterprise.

Boersma Lawn Care (Boersma Enterprises, Inc.), started 14 seasons ago in Ankeny, Iowa with a kid and small push mower. Josh Boersma started this company in April 2000 with the help of his father who ran his books and helped with some of the decision making. After his first year, Josh began hiring his friends to help share the work load and to help everyone start saving for college. This company ha

s grown into an incorporated business with a strong and loyal customer base. *Amazingly, Boersma Lawn Care still has its very first customer! A handful of customers have been using Boersma Lawn Care’s services for more than ten years, proving the company’s dedication to excellent lawn care.* We have a whole crew with professional equipment, Iowa certifications, and insurance. With 14 years of experience, Boersma Lawn Care is capable of providing the highest quality of work in Iowa guaranteed. Boersma attended Iowa State University with an intended major in Agricultural Systems Technology. During the spring of 2010, he decided to use his internship requirement to take his company to the next level. As an intern for his own company, Boersma worked tirelessly to begin expanding his customer-base and services. Since then Josh has added irrigation services, seeding, earating, etc. Boersma Lawn Care is a full service lawn care company providing all of its services in house. Josh Boersma has built Boersma Lawn Care from the ground up. What sets this lawn care company apart is its dedication to the highest-quality service on the market and its great respect for customer’s wants and needs. What started with an 11-year-old kid, one push mower, and four customer accounts has grown into a large and successful locally owned and operated lawn care company. This year Boersma has hired a full time employee; Ben Butcher, who boasts a 4 year degree in agronomy. He will be in charge of lawn mowing crows as well as be my right hand man in all other services and ventures. Caleb and Nate Boersma will be back this year as part time skilled labor. Boersma Lawn Care is trying to double its lawn application, irrigation, aerating, etc services in order to hire another commercial applicator. We only advertise through word of mouth, yard signs, and mailers in select neighborhoods. We are what are customers want us to be so help use take the next step and spread the word!

Last week was hot + dry, we skipped our weekly mowing service at home…sometimes this is most ideal for your lawn!

This week we’re coming off our spring fertilizer app + lots of good rain, and I can’t wait for the guys to come work their magic tomorrow at our place when it’s our turn for a mow.

In the meantime if you drive by and wonder how the lawn care owners live with the shaggiest lawn around…just give it a minute, we promise. 🙃

This former customer is finding out that you get what you pay for.

Unfortunately we see this so often. Quality lawn care is the first thing cut from the budget because it seems like the easiest way to save some money. It took less than a year for these invasive thistles to completely overtake this property.

It’s frustrating for us to watch (especially when it’s right across the street from our favorite Mexican restaurant!), but it’s the nature of our business. They may come back to us, they might not. Either way, our loyal customers know this would NEVER happen on BLC’s watch.

Colten’s view while pulling weeds + tidying landscaping last week.

When we blame them (the dogs) for freeloading + ruining the mulch, we just need to remember they’re an excellent security system. 🙃

Thanks for doing an awesome job last week, guys!

Our crews have come to the end of their annual spring landscape + property clean-ups (look at this before + after!) + we are diving head first into weekly mowing routes, irrigation start-ups, and Brady will be transitioning to Round 2 (killing those dandelions!)

A couple of ‘housekeeping items’ to remember in the spring:

• Our mowing crews are shaking the dust off + rolling, but long grass in the spring is never a bad thing…this produces a healthy more resilient stand or grass to survive a hot + dry summer season.

• With all the rain we’ve had, please remember, it’s not A RACE to turn on your irrigation systems…Josh is on top of Backflow test due dates!

• HEALTHY WEEDS ARE EASIER TO KILL - we are only allowed two blanket applications per year, which means if Round 2 is down by/before the 4th of July, you’re good! This application needs to last until the fall, so timing is key.

It’s not glamorous work, but someone’s gotta do it. 💪🏽
