Come in from the rain for this great program !! TONIGHT
May 14 @ 7pm Amherst Town Library
DON'T LET A LITTLE SNOW STOP YOUR GARDENING!!
Mark Ravenelle practices no-till, no-bare-soil, organic vegetable gardening year round. Using low and high tunnels, he plants throughout the year, growing without heat. Let’s discover how having fresh veggies through the winter is simple and inexpensive! Mark will also touch on wildlife control and rainwater collection. Mark is a member of the Merrimack Garden Club and shares his knowledge with various clubs and organizations. He’s also an expert in wildlife control, which is good, because some animals are so cute but do so much damage to our gardens!!

Note: There will be ***two*** homemade door prizes courtesy of Mark.

PLANT SALE 2026: We will be wrapping up digs on Monday May 4 and preparing to move the plants to Wilkins School (80 Boston Post Road) for the sale on Saturday May 9 (8:30am-1:00pm). Things to know: (1)There will be two lines to the entrance- everyone will pass thru the entrance to start. Once the line of people is inside, the rope outside will be brought down. We want to respect and make it fair to all who are in line early that morning.(2) This has been a tough spring with some very cold nights. Some of our common and unusual plants ran into some leaf freezing. The roots of these plants are great, just plant it and enjoy. (3) We have some wonderful vendors (go to amherstgardenclub.org to check out the Vendors)and we hope you will take a minute to visit their booths. Think Mother's Day gifts & food as well as annuals and veggie plants for the garden. If you come early the vendors will be set up early and you can check them out before the entrance to the perennials opens. We are hoping for a gorgeous day, but if not you know we are there rain or shine!

PLANT SALE DIGS!! It is that time of year and for the next 3 weeks we will be digging in gardens to divide overgrown plants or remove unwanted plants and shrubs. Sometimes home owners want to start fresh and remove a garden in order to do that. We are happy to come and do a clean out!! WE like to get the plants early as they emerge. The plants donated go back to our potting station and will be sold at our plant sale on Saturday, May 9, 8:30am -1:00pm. Please message us here if you are interested or have questions.

February Program: Local and Wild Forged Foods: Thursday Feb 5 at 10:30 am @ Messiah Lutheran Church on Rte 101, Amherst.

We are surrounded by an abundance of food, from what we can grow ourselves locally, to what
we can forage all around us.

The Amherst Garden Club invites you to investigate these local and natural food sources by joining us on Thursday, February 5, 2026 for a presentation entitled “Building a Pantry from Local and Wild Foraged Foods.”

Presenters Linh Aven and Elizabeth Haskett will guide us through a holistic plan to build a home pantry across the seasons and will discuss techniques to process crops. They will also share ideas of how to cook with your pantry ingredients.

Dandelion Forest Farm, located in Nottingham, New Hampshire is an agroforestry farm started by a chef, a farmer and a scientist on a mission to figure out a better way to grow and eat food. Their focus is on edible perennial plants that naturally grow well in the northeast, such as chestnuts, elderberries, lavender and pawpaws. Inspired by permaculture, biodynamics and indigenous practices, the staff at the Farm are working to transform six acres of hay fields into a magical and bountiful food forest, all while making a multitude of delicious treats along the way.

Presenter Linh Aven is a chef, a baker, a farmer, and a scientist. She weaves all these threads together at Dandelion Forest Farm, which offers CSAs, workshops, and a farm to dinner series called the Farmer’s Table.

Presenter Elizabeth Haskett is an experienced chef, who ran her own restaurant in Brooklyn, New York and then switched gears, diving into natural and biodynamic farming. She currently co-chefs at the Farmer’s Table, launched an astrology practice called Thema Mundi, makes a lineof apothecary products, and homesteads in Raymond, NH.
