DRILL - Happening Now with Tsunami Sirens active in our community as part of it.

At 10:15 a.m., Oct. 15 (today), more than 1.5 million people in our state and millions more across the world will participate in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. At just after 10:15 a.m., more than 120 Washington tsunami sirens along the inner and outer coast will be tested using the real wailing sound of a tsunami warning, not the Westminster Chimes that are typically used during the monthly tests. PLEASE DO NOT CALL 911.

There WILL be a test of the Emergency Alert System on radio and television this year all across the state.

The Wireless Emergency Alert text system on cell phones will NOT be tested.

Those who have downloaded the free MyShake Earthquake Early Warning App on their phones will get a test. NOAA Weather Radios will also sound an alarm – although we’re told some counties may not get this test because a radio transmitter is down.

To make sure you’re signed up for alerts, visit https://mil.wa.gov/alerts

After the test, we encourage you to do one more thing. How’s your emergency kit these days? Find lists to download at https://mil.wa.gov/kits

Find who is participating at ShakeOut here. Don’t see your employer? Ask them to sign up: https://www.shakeout.org/washington/whoisparticipating/

When we learned about the vandalism to the Humane Society of Skagit Valley's van this summer, we were disappointed, just like so many others in our community. We were also inspired by the outpouring of support that helped get the vehicle repaired and keep HSSV moving while those repairs were underway.

As we transitioned some fleet vehicles this fall, we saw an opportunity to help by donating a van that can serve as a backup for the organization's important work.

A special thank you to Reliability Tech Andrew Aguilar, his team and several other colleagues who worked behind the scenes to inspect the vehicle, complete maintenance and handle the paperwork that made this donation possible.

We're grateful to the staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley for the care, compassion and futures they provide to pets throughout our community. Thank you for all you do! ❤️🐾
