Things are moving along on this home - window and patio door install has begun, as has rough plumbing.

We have completed quite a bit of the air sealing with huberwood zip tape and liquid flash along with SIGA fentrim tape along the foundation top. There is still more detailing to be done as we move up the walls.

Why all this fuss about air sealing? Glad you asked! Air leakage control has a significantly greater impact on energy efficiency than higher R value insulation. Heat loss occurs via conduction, through materials, as well as by convention, which is air movement. We control conductive heat loss with insulation assemblies, and convective by air sealing. By controlling air movement, we reduce the load on hvac equipment and reduce your overall cost of ownership.

Completion of framing is always an exciting, yet busy part of a new build, where the pace seems to pick up exponentially.

Closing in on completion of framing on this home. Lots of detail in these buildouts and exposed timber exterior canopies. Windows arrive in a couple of weeks, so it’s going to start looking a lot prettier, unless of course you like Zip green!

Been putting the itwpaslode tetra grip siding nailer to work on this project and very impressed! Incredible holding power! This is the perfect fastener for installing siding over the huberwood zip R sheathing.

Simpson titens for the win!

One thing not mentioned in the video was to alwaya, always take lots of pictures before covering things up - preferably with dimensions or so that locations of critical components can be located later. In this case, we have radiant piping throughout this slab, but not under most of the expanded footings. Having those pictures to reference later adds peace of mind to anyone needing to drill int the concrete as we did to install these titen screws. I have never regretted taking lots of pictures. I have regretted NOT taking them!
