What can your roofer do? Seal off the attic?
Patch up roof, eave and vent holes and cover spaces that are wide enough for a squirrel to get through.
Cover any vents with wire mesh screening.
Will this work? Probably not alone. Traps, noise, light, repellents, ammonia, mothballs are all used to aid. Call a pest control company if you have a real issue.
