Brian Craig's Electrical Service

Brian Craig's Electrical Service Licensed and Insured affordable Electrician. Servicing all of Wake county. Also parts of Harnett and Johnston countries. Honest, Quality and Friendly Service.

Even if you just have a question, I'm here to help! I have been in the Electrical field for over twenty years. I began my career at the age of Seventeen with Birmingham Electrical service in Raleigh, NC. I have also worked for two big Commercial companies in the area, Bitting Electric and Tech Electric, both in Morrisville, NC. I hold an Unlimited (Masters) license and carry general liability insu

rance. I started out doing mostly Residential and Commercial service work then progressing to renovations and new construction. I primarily do troubleshooting/repairs, replacing and installing switches, outlets, lights, ceiling fans, wire new appliances and repair items on Home Inspection reports. I take pride in my work and I am very meticulous about it. I believe that honesty and safety are the two most important things with my customers. I don't seek to make big profits on my jobs. I do this in my spare time because I enjoy doing the work and helping people who are in need of an Electrician. I don't like to give prices without coming to look at what needs to be done. I do this so I can give you the best possible lowest price. *I do not charge for estimates*. In closing, I strive to be the best possible electrician you will meet. If for some reason, I can't help you, I will refer you to someone who can. Even if you aren't in need of my service but just have an electrical related question, I am here to help, free of charge.

$30 reward for the safe return of my green 6 foot Husky ladder. It flew out of the back of my truck in front of the Food Lion in Angier this afternoon. Kacie posted in one of the ladies pages and someone responded that they did see someone pick it up. Ladder does have sentimental value. It, my 8 foot ladder and the Bosch hammer drill I have were the first three tools I bought the same week I got my electrical license, so I have had the ladder for almost 11 years now. It is the same ladder that has been in my pictures.

Pass and Seymour strikes again. I normally don't work Monday or Friday evenings but I had a customer in Holly Springs contact me about some lights not working. I was already out and about so I told them I could stop by. Another bad Pass and Seymour switch. I confirmed this by having 120 volts from one screw terminal to equipment ground but not the other. Took a piece of wire and jumped the contacts and the lights came on.

I was curious when I got home and opened up the switch to find out the cause and it was due to carbon buildup on the contacts. House was built in 2020, so this switch was only six years old. It should have lasted longer than that. Most of the time when these go bad it's because they are back stabbed and the plastic housing fractures which breaks contact with the pressure plate and wire. In the third picture you can see exactly what makes contact with the wire, just like I've always explained to people, a small piece about the thicknesses of your fingernail. This is why pushing the wire in the hole in the back isn't a good way to terminate devices, especially outlets and wrapping it around the screws always makes a much better and safer connection.

When I began my career in 1998 Pass and Seymour was the best of the best because that's what the supply houses sold and what every electrician put in. Leviton was (assumed) junk because that's what the big box stores sold to homeowners. However around 2010 P&S quality control started going downhill. That was also when I started seeing the broken switches as mentioned above. Brand new GFCI's wouldn't work. When it happened to me, right after I got started I had 3 out of 10 in a case that were bad. I said never again and switched to Leviton. Except for one that was sold as a single switch (and I believe was dropped) I have never, ever had a problem with a Leviton switch, receptacle or GFCI.

If you have a light or outlet not working I will be happy to fix it for you. This is what I do in my spare time because I enjoy doing electrical work and helping people. I've had many happy customers over the years and would love for you to be one too. I've been providing Honest, Quality and Friendly service since 2015 and plan on doing so for many more years to come!

Needing professional ceiling fan installation that won't break the bank? I have about the lowest instalation cost out there for a licensed electrician. I also give a free lifetime warranty on my labor. So not only are you saving money, you are getting a peace of mind guarantee. Plus all fans are hand assembled and screws tightened by hand. No impacts or drills used, only for disassembly. I do this because I've seen damaged and stripped out screws caused by people rushing and using a drill or impact. I also like being able to feel when things are tight. You can't do that with a drill. Plus I'm old school and believe in doing things right the first time, taking your time and having pride in your work. When I started in 1998 battery operated tools hadn't become the norm yet and everything was done by hand except for drilling out studs which we used a corded electric drill. You had to tighten screws with a screwdriver, cut holes in drywall with a sheet rock saw and cut metal using a hacksaw. It toughened you up and built muscle in your hands and arms.

If you have a fan, or fans (discount given for multiple fans) text or call me at 919-607-1286 or you may also message me here on Facebook for an immediate quote.

Honest, Quality and Friendly service since 2015.

Installed and replaced these two fans this past week. Homeowner in Angier got stuck trying to change out the box in the ceiling for a fan on the front porch. Installed a fan rated box and the fan.

Replaced this very cool clear Harbor Breeze fan with a blue florescent light in Willow Spring with an Artika brand light. I had never seen a fan with clear blades before. They said it was there when they bought the house 20+ years ago.

If your needing a fan installed please contact me at 919-607-1286 you can text or call or you can also send me a message here on Facebook and I'll be happy to help you. Ceiling fan and light fixture installations are primarily what I do.

Honest, Quality and Friendly service since 2015.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter tomorrow. I am taking a much needed break this weekend and are closed for the weekend until Tuesday 4/7. I have been non stop busy since after Christmas and it's going to catch up to me again if I don't take a few days off. I can't help it though. I'm a workaholic and I love helping people.

You can't just give me a price over text/the phone?

No, I can not (unless it's a basic service call or ceiling fan/light fixture instalation) and I will explain why. This came up a few weeks ago. So, a lady asked for electrician recommendations on a local page. Lots of people recommend me. She contacts me, wants quote. Tell her I'll be happy to but I will need to come on site to look at everything. I don't charge anything for coming out, even if it's driving from here in Angier to Raleigh or even Zebulon which is almost an hour away. Sends me specs for equipment and ask if I can quote it. Still tell her no, will need to do a site visit. Tells me she will get back to me and never does.

There's only a few things I give an immediate quote for without seeing anything first. Usually fans/lights or outlet/GFCI replacements/doorbell quit working or the classic half of my outlets stopped working (almost always a bad speedwire/backstab connection). Anything else I go out to look at. Needing outlets installed, shed wired, appliances/equipment wired I have to see it in person. For one, I can see exactly what's involved and if I want to take it on. What might be in the way or I'll have work around that will take up time. Is furniture in the way that needs to be moved, how easily accessible is the crawlspace or attic. Being part time gives me the luxury of picking and choosing what I want to do vs full time needing to take on everything that comes my way to keep food on the table. Two, it gives me and the customer a chance to meet each other to see if were a good fit for working together. Three, I am fair with people plus being straightforward and honest. Always keep my word if I tell someone I'm going to do something. That is why I'm still going strong after all these years, even with a few hiccups of burnout or personal issues. Yes, I am like everyone else in business for myself to make money but I don't want to feel like I excessively overcharged someone. I do have a conscious and that type of stuff will keep me up at night telling myself that I did something wrong. That is why I ask to come by before I give a price.

Need a Car charger installed? Brian Craig's Electrical Service will be happy to help you with that. I am able to help you with the rebate from Duke Energy. Here are pictures of two installations I have done recently. A EVIQO brand charger in Fuquay-Varina and a Emporia brand Willow Spring. I have done many Tesla chargers as well along with a few other brands plus 50 amp outlets if you want to go the cord and plug route. While I'm not a master drywaller, I do make a good faith attempt to patch any drywall cut with drywall compound. Some contractors refuse to or just fill in any small holes with silicone which makes for a sloppy job and is not a correct repair.

Feel free to text me at 919-607-1286 or send me a message here on Facebook to schedule a free quote.
