Today's the last day to make the effort, try to convince, and do all the things to get on that Good List. You know who you are. You better get on it! Also, we only put up four trees this year.

I do believe that Fall has finally trickled down to Florida. And I'm ready! Soooo ready! And yesterday was just superb. A cool breeze. Low humidity. Sunshine. And hubby drove me around the back roads for a bit and we ended up at a spectacular German bakery, tucked away in a small town south of us. We had 5-star pastries and coffee under canopy oaks and it was absolutely perfect! We came home and pulled all the screens out and cleaned the windows and slept with them open last night and good grief... is there anything better? If you know me, you know this Virginia girl doesn't love Florida-- but I dearly love someone who does. So when the temps finally break and the cool breezes, chilled evenings and foggy field mornings come, I'm here for it.
So, happy Fall, y'all. From Florida. Where it was 59 at 7 am and promises to be 80 by noon. Hope you have great Monday!

Just thought I'd share these lovely birthday flowers from Momma, fresh from the garden. I'm really gateful to my village, near and far for all the birthday wishes and so thankful to start a new year, leaving behind the dumpster-fire that was 45! Also, not sure how I'm this old. Most days, I feel more like 13 going on 30ish. And can you believe it's September? Good grief time flies when you're adulting. Cheers y'all and happy Friday-eve!

Hey y'all, hey! It's Friday!
And that means only one sleep until the weekend.
And that's a fabulous thing regardless of what Helen's permanent RBF might say. She's just grumpy about everything. Like, where are her arms and what's on her head? And why are there snail pots so close to her face? So, try not to be like Helen, today. Focus on the good stuff and ignore the fray. After all, it's Fri-yay!

Don't mind me... just over here trying to figure out how in the heck we've got tiny 'punkins' growing... and it's July. That bowl is full of them. And it's July. In Florida. In July. So, it's not Christmas in July, it's Thanksgiving? Halloween? 90° degrees and up, outside. And we've got little baby pumpkins. I've got no idea. Nothing makes sense anymore. I'm just going to eat a slice of that cake and hope for the best. Happy whatever day it is. From the vortex of weird.

This is Willow. One half of our darling-duo of rescued kitties that I refer to as the "Ginger Twins." They are not, in fact, twins. They are Gingers. They're also sisters. And they excel at many things... Plucking fresh flowers from vintage vases. Stealing carrots from garden baskets. Climbing on any box and attempting to scale the ceiling, Mission Impossible-style. Practicing Parkour in our bedroom at 3AM. Jumping on our faces at 5AM to settle in for a siesta. And so much more. So don't let her quiet, regal fluffiness fool you. She's a hard core menace. But we adore her just the same. Because everybody needs love, right? And maybe a sq**rt bottle spray to the face every now and then to keep yourself in check. Yep. That's how we roll. Happy Friday, y'all.
And try not to be a menace.

Once upon a time, I would have thought all of this was clutter and just too much. But these days, I think it's just right. Our farm fresh eggs, a few favorite collectibles and very useful tools, all together in one place... my favorite place, the kitchen. Does this mean I'm a maximalist, now? What say you? And that "you" includes everyone but that guy I'm hitched to. I already know what he thinks about my stuff!!

Morning light is my favorite thing. Only second to moonlight. And this cozy spot that greets those who visit our home is one of the best places to settle in. You can see the farm & garden, the skyline, the giant lizards on the patio, and you can observe the center of our home, too. It's just a great view. You can't, however, see the chaos of the junk room and mudroom and laundry and all the things... just the good stuff. And though we all know that other stuff is there, too, we've gotta make sure we don't forget the good view. Let it be the big view. The best view. It's important.
