The Story Behind T's Tree Service & Firewood LLC
Back in 2022, I took the biggest leap of faith of my life and started T's Tree Service & Firewood LLC.
That old truck on the right? It's a 1999 GMC 2500 with over 300,000 miles. It wasn't pretty. It was a be**er. But it got the job done. It put food on our table, kept a roof over our heads, and became the foundation that built our future.
I reached a point where I was tired of being miserable. Tired of being mistreated. Tired of being taken advantage of. Tired of living paycheck to paycheck, knowing that if I stayed where I was, my family would always struggle.
But through it all, one thing never changed—we always had each other. And at the end of the day, that's what truly matters.
I remember praying and asking God for guidance.
"God, my wife and children deserve the world. They deserve to feel secure and stable. I'm the provider. I'm a husband. I'm a father. Help me build the life they deserve."
Our dream wasn't about being rich. Our dream was simple.
We wanted a home with land where we could build our homestead, raise chickens, ducks, pigs, rescue dogs and cats, and create a place our children could grow up loving.
As I prayed, I felt God telling me...
"Take what money you have left and invest in yourself. You already know what you're passionate about."
I've always loved nature. I've always loved tree work.
Then I remembered something my grandpa told me when I was just a young boy:
> "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life."
One day I found myself sitting against a dying pecan tree. It was dying because it no longer had enough water. The land was being cleared so a million-dollar home could be built where that tree had stood for decades, providing shade and producing fruit for so many years.
As I sat there, I couldn't help but think...
That tree had spent its entire life providing for others.
Just like I was trying to provide for my family.
Before I started my saw, I put my hand on that pecan tree and thanked it for every harvest it had ever given.
I told it, "I'm sorry I have to do this. But you'll continue providing in a different way. You'll bring warmth to families and light to the world."
I fired up my Stihl 461 with a 28-inch bar and cut the notch toward the west—the direction the tree naturally wanted to fall.
As I made my back cut and watched the hinge begin to form, I stepped away.
The tree fell perfectly with the setting sun.
As the wind rushed past me from thousands of pounds of wood hitting the earth, I swear I could hear my grandpa whisper...
"Go for it. You finally know what you're meant to do."
The very next day I walked into my boss's office to pick up my paycheck.
It was short.
Again.
For six weeks I had calculated every hour I worked. I knew exactly what I was owed.
His excuse?
"The time clock must have malfunctioned again."
I had heard that excuse enough.
Right there, in front of employees and customers, I quit.
He tried to stop me.
"Wait... we'll talk about it."
I looked at him and said,
"I've heard that for six weeks. I'm done. I can't keep struggling while I make money for someone who doesn't value me. I have dreams. I have goals. I have a family depending on me. If I stay here, none of those dreams will ever happen."
I walked out, got into my old GMC, and stared at my last $1,000 paycheck, wondering how I was going to provide for my family.
I had no guarantees.
Only faith.
Fast forward to today...
We own our own home.
We built our homestead.
We're raising chickens, ducks, pigs, and rescuing animals.
Our children are healthy, happy, and growing up with the life we prayed for.
That old GMC helped start the journey, and today it's parked beside a newer dump truck—a reminder of where we came from and proof of what faith, hard work, and determination can accomplish.
I now work for myself five days a week with two full-time employees.
I take care of them because they help put food on my family's table just as much as I help put food on theirs.
We're more than coworkers.
We're a team.
We're family.
We're T's Tree Service & Firewood LLC.
