Don’t panic—this happens more often than you think! Here’s what you can do:

✅ Step 1: Check for the basics

Make sure the gas supply valve is open.

Look for drafts or a strong breeze near the heater that could have blown it out.

✅ Step 2: Follow the relighting instructions

Most water heaters have a sticker with step-by-step directions.

Turn the gas k**b to OFF and wait 5–10 minutes before trying to relight.

Set to PILOT, press and hold the button, and use the igniter (or a lighter for older models).

⚠️ STOP if you smell gas!

Leave the area immediately and call your gas company or 911.
