FREEZE WARNING! 🥶🧊🪴🌻🌴
Much has been written about the coming cold temperatures. Following are my thoughts and recommendations. These specifically apply to Orange County and southern Seminole county, but all Floridians should keep an eye on your temperatures and act accordingly.
As of this writing the weather forecast calls for temperatures to be at or slightly below freezing from approximately 4:00 am through approximately 8:30 am on Sunday morning.
If your system is set to water on Saturdays (anyone with an odd-numbered address) then no action is required. The temperatures are not predicted to be low enough to cause pipe damage.
If your system is set to water on Sundays (anyone with an even-numbered address) then I suggest you turn off your irrigation timer sometime during the day on Saturday. Again, the temperatures are not predicted to be low enough to cause pipe damage, however plant damage is a possibility.
If you have newly planted shrubs or plants they should be covered over Saturday night. Please be sure to remember to remove the coverings on Sunday morning after the temperature is above freezing. Some plants may be damaged or killed with these temperatures. However, a “hard freeze” is not predicted, but keep an eye on the forecast.

Best regards & stay warm! ☕🫖🍲
