If you spot a water stain on your ceiling, the leak didn't just start. That stain is the end of the story, not the beginning. 💧

By the time discoloration shows through the drywall, water has likely been pooling above it for days or even weeks. The insulation above is soaked, and depending on how long it's been going, you could already have softened drywall and early moisture damage in the framing.

Don't paint over it and hope for the best. Press the area gently. If it feels soft, there's active moisture up there.

After water damage, one of the first questions people ask: "Can the carpet be saved?" 💧

It depends on two things: what kind of water and how long it sat.

✅ Clean water from a supply line, caught within 24 hours? Usually cleanable. We extract, clean, treat, and monitor drying.

❌ Sewage, floodwater, or anything that sat more than 48 hours? The carpet and pad need to come out. Once contamination soaks into the padding, no amount of cleaning makes it safe.

The carpet itself isn't always the issue. It's the pad underneath that holds moisture and grows what you can't see.
