We are excited to welcome Faiq Naderi to the ABS team as an Energy Engineer. Faiq holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, and is an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and OSHA certified. With six years of experience in the electrical industry, Faiq has built an impressive career, starting as an Assistant Electrical Design Engineer during his internship and progressing through roles such as Electrical Quality Assurance Engineer, University Lecturer, Electrical Engineer, and Senior Electrical Engineer. His expertise spans electrical design and engineering, power systems, energy management, and compliance and safety standards. Faiq is driven by his passion for creating innovative, efficient, and reliable electrical systems that meet project specifications while advancing sustainability and energy efficiency. He thrives in collaborative environments and excels in solving complex technical challenges in energy management and power systems. His focus on integrating renewable energy technologies ensures both improved system performance and a reduced environmental impact.
In addition to his technical skills, Faiq is deeply committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers. He has previously volunteered as a lecturer at public and private universities in Afghanistan and takes pride in offering hands-on training and guidance to new engineers. Known for his intense attention to detail, Faiq consistently ensures the quality and safety of electrical designs, earning the respect of his colleagues and supervisors for his ability to deliver efficient solutions while maintaining full compliance with industry standards. Outside of work, Faiq enjoys playing soccer, chess, and reading books. We are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the contributions he will make to our team!

Wave Power! Ocean Energy has deployed its 826-ton wave energy converter buoy, OE-35, at the US Navy's Wave Energy Test Site off Oahu's coast. This buoy is set to be connected to Hawaii's electricity grid. It has been tested in both Hawaii and Scotland as part of a $12 million project funded by the US Department of Energy and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. The OE-35 can generate up to 1.25 MW of power by harnessing wave energy with a unique double-flow air system. Unlike typical wave power systems that act like piston engines with power and reset periods, the OE-35 uses a turbine based on the Wells turbine, invented by Alan Arthur Wells. This low-pressure air turbine spins continuously in one direction regardless of the air flow direction. As waves compress air in the buoy's chambers, the turbine spins. When the air expands and reverses flow, the turbine still spins in the same direction, eliminating the need for complex mechanisms to handle bidirectional air flow.
