With an uptick in power outages, whether it be from brown outs or blackouts, there are multiple options when it comes to standby power. Depending on the need whole home standby options can be quite expensive. Some more less expensive options include a generator inlet and interlock kit installed for the panel, manual transfer options with generator inlet, and of course the more luxurious whole home standby by options. If you’re considering standby power options don’t think you have to be limited to just whole home.

This customer got the “best cost” on the worst deal. The contractor that rewired this home left open spliced joints in the attic without junction boxes, mis-wired items that didn’t work, broken boxes that caused a light to fall out of the ceiling. Lowest cost is not always best. This bad work was finally caught during a home inspection because the house is being sold. We were tasked with adding junction boxes and cleaning up this mess for the homeowner. Make sure you hire the best and that they don’t leave you with a mess like this. These slides show the bad work that was installed and left.
