1.0 POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The basic function of the Network and Computer Systems Technician is to install, configure and support the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Internet system and physical computing equipment.
Salary is dependent on experience.
2.0 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a background in all facets of PC Network and Computer Systems. Should be able to consistently identify new opportunities and develop strategies for improvements in coordinating service of the corporate network. Must be able to address employee and company needs and concerns in a manner that is beneficial to Desert Hills.
This position requires a self-actuating, goal-oriented person who is able to initiate and implement strategies and techniques that enhance revenue while at the same time looking for opportunities to control the expenses of Desert Hills Electric Supply. The Network and Computer Systems Technician must possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and meet deadlines.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Education:
An Associate Degree in Information Technologies or its’ equivalent is required. S/he should be willing for additional training to upgrade her/his education and/or sharpen any skill deficiencies.
3.2 Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of Network and Computer Systems support experience are required.
3.3 License/Certification:
A valid driver’s license with proof of insurability is required.
3.4 Skills/Knowledge:
Must have excellent communication skills coupled with good planning and organizational ability. Must have good working knowledge of Network and Computer systems and must be able to communicate said knowledge to fellow employees. Must have good PC skills with an active understanding of Microsoft Windows Networking Software, Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems, and Linux Operating Systems.
Must have to the ability to prioritize employee needs and develop service strategies. Must be a decision-maker that constantly incorporates common business sense into the decision-making process.
Must be able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from fellow employees and managers. Must have the ability to effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
3.5 Physical:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job
Body Positions: Regularly required sitting for prolonged periods of time. Standing, walking and reaching are required periodically.
Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, bending, reaching and crouching.
Body Senses: Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, tough, smell
and taste. Specific vision abilities required include having very good vision (or
correctable to very good vision) for close vision, distance vision, color vision and
peripheral vision. Vision must also be sufficient to shift in focus from computer
screens to close forms and back routinely. Must hear and speak well enough to
conduct business over the telephone for long periods of time.
Strength: Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
3.6 Mental:
Must be able to read and write, in English well enough to read and prepare
reports and communicate effectively with fellow employees. Must be capable of applying business sense to employee related problem solving and in the handling of related business matters. Must be a creative thinker with good business sense.
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
3.7 Working Conditions:
The position will normally work in an environmentally controlled
office setting. Eight or more hour workdays per normal five-(5) day workweek are
required with occasional Saturday or weekend work. Early morning and/or late
evening weekday meetings with employees, vendors and/or staff personnel are
required on occasion. The position occasionally deals with employees that may
difficult or demanding and is in a goal-oriented environment, which can be
stressful.
4.0 AUTHORITY and ACCOUNTABILITY

The Network and Computer Systems Technician is delegated sufficient authority by their designated supervisor to successfully conduct, manage and administer all Network and Computer Systems
