Check out this lidded acorn box that came out of the shop last month! The wood is maple and walnut (large pieces of oak are tough to come by out here), with a protective cork lining for the bottom and a custom laser engraving on the inside of the lid. Finished with three coats of Arm-R-Seal and then a layer of paste wax.

I'm getting familiar with my lathe by making some baby rattles out a variety of woods. They're around 4 inches long each, just the right size for baby hands, and finished with paraffin wax or beeswax for a smooth, protective finish. These rattles are made from oak, maple, walnut, purpleheart, lacewood, cedar, cherry, and padauk.
