⚠️ AUX HEAT STUCK ON AT 35°? HERE'S WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR ELECTRIC BILL:

At 35°F outside, a properly charged heat pump should still deliver 88° to 95° supply air at your registers without relying on electric heat strips.

If your auxiliary heat is locking in constantly, check these 3 things before paying a diagnostic fee:

1. Check your air filter. A choked filter drops airflow across the indoor coil, trips the high-limit switch, and forces emergency backup heat.
2. Inspect the outdoor coil. Light frost is normal, but a solid encasement of ice means a failed defrost board, bad sensor, or stuck reversing valve.
3. Test the heat pump solo. Shut off emergency heat at the thermostat. If the air drops down to room temperature within 5 minutes, you may have a failed run capacitor or low refrigerant charge.
