Daniel (Dan W Tanner II) Tanner started his surveying career in 2001 as a rod man at Jerry King Surveying right here in Asheboro, working his way up to crew chief and eventually earning his Professional Land Surveyor license in 2008. In 2012 he founded Survey Carolina PLLC, and over the last two decades has built a firm known for precision, reliability, and genuine client care.

Survey Carolina serves real estate agents, developers, attorneys, and homeowners across Asheboro, Randolph County, and surrounding areas. They handle everything from property boundary surveys and fence line locations to encroachment issues and graphic property representations.

But what really stands out? Daniel has used his skills to serve communities in Papua New Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, and Indonesia to provide humanitarian surveying support at hospitals and educational institutions through Engineering Ministries International. That’s a career built on more than just work. 🌍🙌

Before the fireworks, there were the founders, measuring, mapping, and marking out a brand new country one boundary at a time. 🇺🇸

Grateful for the land we get to work on every day, and for the freedom to build something on it.

Curiosity is an important trait in land surveying. This visitor was especially interested in our GPS equipment and field procedures. We’re considering adding him to the payroll. 🫏📐

Our owner Daniel just returned from two weeks in Indonesia, where he volunteered his land surveying expertise to help bring schools to remote communities around the world. Watching survey work be used this way, to give children a place to learn, is a reminder of why this work matters beyond the property line

🇺🇸 In honor of Memorial Day, our office will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, and will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

We take this time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

This past Friday we had our first annual Family Fun Day 🏁❤️ Lots of racing, lots of laughs, and lots of fun. At the end of the day, our families make us who we are, and everything we do in the field is a reflection of that. So grateful for the people behind our people.

From red rocks to classroom talks.

A few of our office team members headed west for the Carlson Go West Conference—making time to explore the beauty of Moab, Utah before two full days in Salt Lake City sharpening their skills with Carlson’s incredible software.

We believe the best investment is in our people, and bringing that knowledge back home means better service, better solutions, and a stronger team for our clients.

💡 Friday Feature: Why Survey Costs Vary

Not all surveys are created equal, and size is only part of the story. 📏

Larger properties often require:
✔️ More field time to collect accurate data
✔️ Additional research on boundaries and records
✔️ More complex mapping and processing

But smaller doesn’t always mean simpler.

A small residential lot can still involve:
✔️ Older or unclear deeds 📄
✔️ Missing or disturbed markers
✔️ Boundary overlaps or neighbor conflicts

So while acreage plays a role, factors like property history, terrain, and existing records can have just as much impact on time and cost.

Every property is unique and every survey is approached with the same level of care and precision.
