Bridging The Stream

At the heart of Peppervine Falls, a screened dogtrot porch spans the property's largest stream, creating a daily experience shaped by moving water, filtered light, and the sounds of the forest.

Two distinct living volumes are joined beneath a single elongated roof, allowing the house to function as both bridge and shelter. Elevated on slender piers and clad in dark standing-seam metal, the architecture touches the landscape lightly—preserving the stream corridor while creating an immersive connection to the site.

**A Quiet Presence**

Viewed from afar, Peppervine Falls reveals itself only gradually through the trees. Clad in dark standing-seam metal and nestled within the forest canopy, the home was designed to recede into the landscape, allowing the waterfalls, streams, and mountain ecology to remain the primary experience. The intention was never to create an object in nature, but a place from which nature can be more deeply experienced.

Emerging through mist and rain, Peppervine Falls hovers above the water that shaped the site long before the house arrived. The architecture remains quiet, framing an ever-changing dialogue between forest, stone, and falling water.

Clad in dark standing-seam metal and elevated on slender piers, the structure recedes into the shadows of the surrounding trees, allowing water, stone, and woodland to remain the dominant experience. Here, the sound of falling water is not an amenity—it is the architecture's constant companion.

URBAN INTERSECTION

This design proposes an architectural dialogue where transparency meets community, redefining the threshold between private and public realms.

The entryway, framed by expansive glass and ascending wooden steps, invites light to flood the space, creating an energetic connection to the vibrant streetscape. Meanwhile, the overhanging roof extends its gesture outward, drawing visitors toward the welcoming façade with its intentional integration of landscape and structure.

In these moments, the architecture cultivates a dynamic relationship between inhabitants and their surroundings, enhancing the experience of community and connection within the urban fabric.
