Not every survey project begins with a property line. Sometimes, it begins on a manufacturing floor—where precision leaves little room for error.

When Timberlab needed help with an unconventional layout project at its Greenville mass timber facility, Holmes Geospatial was happy to assist.

Our team provided precision survey layout for manufacturing jigs used in the fabrication of structural mass timber beams. These jigs serve as positioning guides, helping Timberlab place and assemble large timber components consistently and accurately. Precise jig placement is essential to maintaining production quality, reducing rework, and ensuring the finished components align properly when installed in the field.

This project is an example of how surveying extends beyond traditional property boundaries. We’re proud to apply our expertise in a new way and support Timberlab’s innovative mass timber operations.

Our firm recently completed a stream stabilization verification project for SOX Erosion Solutions® at Sapphire Valley Country Club. SOX Erosion Solutions delivers a suite of patented erosion control systems designed to stabilize shorelines and hillsides, while improving water quality; providing sustainable solutions for lasting impact.

Our Project Scope: ~500 linear feet of stream corridor.

Goal: document the current conditions of their erosion control system for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers review.

Our solutions combined:
✅ Aerial LiDAR + orthophotography
✅ Traditional stream bed survey for precise channel geometry
✅ Unified topographic mapping package — USACE submission-ready

We provided an integrated topographic map and orthophoto deliverable covering the full ~500-foot treated stream reach, providing SOX Erosion Solutions with an accurate, current-condition baseline purpose-built for regulatory verification. The project reflects our commitment to combining integrated solutions to meet each client's unique needs.

Holmes Geospatial recently delivered a bathymetric survey and current orthoimagery of Lake Whelchel, a 200-acre public water reservoir located in Cherokee County, South Carolina, to the Gaffney Board of Public Works. Our Remote Sensing team deployed an integrated technology solution combining UAS-mounted simultaneous LiDAR and imagery capture, RTK GPS-integrated acoustic depth sounding from a Apache 3 Pro survey vessel, and rigorous cross-check line methodology to validate surface accuracy. Everyone enjoyed checking out the completed upgrades at the ballpark, including the new Best Buy Metals Pavilion.
