Why Proper Mulching Matters and Why Volcano Mulching Harms Trees.
Proper mulching: A tidy circle of mulch around the tree base (2-3 inches deep, kept away from the trunk), retains moisture, regulates soil temperature, and reduces w**d growth, promoting healthy root development and tree vitality. It mimics natural forest conditions, enhancing long-term growth.
Volcano mulching: Piling mulch high against the trunk, is harmful. It traps moisture against the bark, leading to rot, pest infestations, and root suffocation. This stresses the tree, weakens its structure, and can cause irreversible damage or death over time. Avoid this practice for healthier trees!
