After more than 35 years of dedication, leadership, and faith, we are honored to celebrate the coming retirement of our founder and owners, Ben and Brenda Uselton.

What began as a small dream in Ashland has grown into something far greater than anyone could have imagined. Under Ben’s steadfast leadership as Founder and President, and with Brenda’s unwavering commitment as Treasurer and CFO, BCU Electric became a name built on integrity, excellence, and faith. Ben has always been the driving force in the field- leading projects, people, and progress- while Brenda has been the steady heartbeat behind the scenes, keeping everything running with precision, grace, and wisdom. Together, they have built something that stands as a testament to faith, perseverance, and purpose- a company grounded in values that will continue to guide us for generations to come.

Through every high and low, every shift in the economy, and every challenge along the way, Ben and Brenda led with the same values that started it all: God, family, and hard work. Their vision and perseverance created a legacy that has reached far beyond the county lines of Ashland - one that has provided countless jobs, strengthened community initiatives, and touched lives in ways that can never be measured. For decades, they’ve stood as pillars in this community, leading by example and leaving an imprint that will never fade.

As they step into this next, well-deserved chapter, we celebrate not only their quickly-approaching retirement, but the extraordinary example they’ve set for all of us. Ben and Brenda have shown us what authentic leadership truly means - to lead with an ambitious heart, to work hard and show up ready every single day, to pay attention to the details, and to always keep your heart open. Their legacy lives on in every project we take on, every relationship we build, and every person who has had the privilege of working beside them.

Though they are beginning the transition away from their day-to-day roles, Ben and Brenda are still here with us for now, and we plan to soak up every moment we have left with them. Their presence, wisdom, and guidance continue to shape the work we do and the people we strive to be.

As we move forward into this next chapter, one thing remains unchanged: the heart of BCU Electric. The same values that built this company - faith, integrity, and commitment to our people and community - remain at the core of everything we do. While the business continues to grow and evolve, our promise to uphold the morals, ethics, and small-business heart that Ben and Brenda instilled in us will never waver.
We are endlessly grateful for all they’ve done - for the lessons, the leadership, and the love they’ve poured into every part of this company. Words will never be enough.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week to celebrate their incredible journey and send them off with the honor they deserve. Thank you for the heartfelt well-wishes, the hand-picked gifts, the cards, and the warm hugs. Your love and support make this transition all the more meaningful, and we can’t imagine a more perfect way to honor two people who have given so much to all of us.

Main Street said it best- be we'll echo it! We put pride and passion into every job, big or small, because our goal is always to make life easier for the people we serve. Being recognized not just for our work, but for the care behind it, reminds us why we do what we do. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that values excellence and trust, and we’ll always aim to go above and beyond.

While the majority of our posts focus on downtown stuff, we ARE a membership organization (ahem), and we DO have amazing non-downtown members (thank you!) Our posts about them usually run to thanks for their support or sponsorships, but we don't often get a chance to talk about how awesome they are, outside of their general grooviness.

Today is different! I am super excited to be able to specifically talk about the incredible work and customer service our friends (and members!) at BCU Electric, Inc. exhibit. Yes, I know they are fabulous all the time and every single day, but it hits a little differently when you're sitting in your kitchen with Justin, who is fixing your very old house's electrical issues, quickly, efficiently, and safely. The BCU team got back to us right away after we called, set up an appointment within 24 hours, called an hour out to let us know we were on deck (I LOVE that), showed up within said hour, and then fixed our issue without an issue (let me tell you about three way switches...). We've had a few different electrical things happening in our home this summer ( )and BCU has shown up every time and taken care of us, not charged us an arm and a leg, and were so great to work with.

We are so lucky to have great businesses in our community who not only support our local non-profits, but who take care of our homes and businesses, every day. Thanks, BCU, for being great neighbors and great electricians!!

In our community, BCU Electric shines as a trusted leader for all things electrical, and that is because of the pride and effort our people bring to every project.

We also want to recognize the many teams that make our company thrive. To our engineering, security, A/V, and conveyor crews who work across the United States and play such a huge role in our success, thank you. To our administration team who are the magic behind the scenes, our leaders who guide the way, our panel builders, CAD operators, mechanics, and shop managers who answer every call to make sure our jobsites have exactly what they need, we are grateful for you. To our groundskeeping team who ensures our facilities reflect our standard of excellence from the road in, you represent BCU with pride and professionalism every day.

Labor Day is also a celebration of all workers in every industry. Whether you are building, teaching, caring, creating, or serving, your dedication keeps businesses running and communities thriving. You deserve recognition not only on this holiday but every day.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a time to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Their bravery and dedication allow us the freedoms we enjoy every day. For every flag placed, every name remembered, and every story told — we honor a life of service and sacrifice. We’re forever grateful, and we carry their memory with us — not just today, but always.
