Boyd County Local Emergency Planning Committee in collaboration with our public safety agencies will be conducting an Hazmat Drill in the Graydon Heights area on Tuesday August 22nd from 7pm-9pm. During this time you may see a heavy presence of emergency vehicles in the Graydon Heights area but THIS IS ONLY A DRILL!
This exercise is part of our annual hazmat exercise program and is designed to better prepare our response to emergencies.

Pictured is a water line belonging to one of our customers. The tree root had wrapped around the pipe and in return cracked it causing a large water leak. To help prevent your pipes from being damaged by tree roots, you can place barriers between the pipes and tree roots. You can also bury wooden or metal barriers alongside your pipes to prevent tree roots from puncturing your plumbing. The barriers should be at least six inches deeper in the ground than the roots in order to be effective. It is also recommended to not have trees too close to homes or utilities as the roots may grow and eventually damage your plumbing.
