Some sites get misread. This one had been stalled for years, a sage-covered hillside and an old structure in the wrong place.

Then Brett walked it and found two extraordinary views hiding in plain sight. One toward Hunter Creek Valley. One toward Snowmass. Neither convenient. Both worth building a house around.

The result is a legacy home for a family who wanted a place their daughters (and one day their grandkids) would always come back to. A sky bridge of glass and timber bent to exactly the angle the two views demanded.

"I never felt talked out of my vision, only supported in making it stronger."

This is what it looks like when a team leans in instead of steering you toward something safer.

In Aspen, possibility starts with code.

Step one: The realtor brings us the listing.
Step two: We decode what Pitkin County allows.
Step three: We identify views, square footage, and design opportunity.
Step four: We create the rendering that changes the conversation.

In a market this regulated, vision isn’t optional.
It’s leverage.

This stage of construction rarely makes it to portfolios — but it’s where the integrity of the home is set. Timber spans, structural integration, window placement, mechanical coordination. Every decision here determines how the finished space will feel.

Not every project starts from scratch.

This one began with an existing structure and a simple question: how do we make it better?

We preserved the character, introduced stronger glazing, and refined the interior curves to bring more light and more landscape into the experience.

Nearly complete.

As this project moves toward its April finish, the structure has settled into the landscape — glass set, stone grounded, materials beginning to speak to one another.

What began as a study of site and constraint now stands with clarity and intention.

Final details underway.

Before a buyer walks an Aspen lot,
we already know what’s possible.

Setbacks.
Height limits.
Environmental overlays.
Existing structures.

Understanding Aspen’s code isn’t paperwork.
It’s leverage.

Progress isn’t only measured in square footage.

It’s found in moments like this — a custom curved stair taking shape on site. Fabricated precisely, installed carefully, and protected until the rest of the interior catches up.

Details like this aren’t ornamental. They carry the weight of the design.

Three layouts.
Three very different ways to move through the same space.

A prioritizes symmetry and enclosure.
B opens the circulation and centers the bath.
C introduces angled movement and separation.

When you design at this level, layout isn’t preference — it’s experience.

Mountain sites rarely come easy.

This one brought a steep grade, height limitations, and review concerns to the table.

Final schematic design is complete.
As we prepare for formal review, we worked closely with engineering to study the slope conditions and identify where the code allowed flexibility.

An exemption was there.
It just needed to be found.

Now the project moves forward — refined, aligned, and ready for the next phase.

In Aspen, a listing isn’t just what exists.
It’s what’s allowed.

We analyze Pitkin County code.
We identify the opportunity.
We frame the view with intention.
We create the rendering that shifts the conversation.

Designing for mountain environments means thinking beyond a single season. Structure, materials, and detailing are all considered for how a home performs year-round — from summer sun to winter snow. This moment captures that balance: protected, warm, and still fully connected to the landscape.
