In February of 2025, we established an award called "Beyond the Call of Duty" to recognize employees who demonstrate extraordinary courage, selflessness, and character in moments when others need help most.

Since then, we have had the honor of recognizing three team members whose actions have made a real difference in the lives of others.

A few weeks ago, we were proud to recognize our fourth recipient of the Beyond the Call of Duty Award, Michael Haraway.

Michael was the first person on the scene when a woman's vehicle caught fire. Without hesitation, he stopped to help, ensuring the driver was safely out of the vehicle and away from danger. He then assisted in extinguishing the fire, helping prevent the situation from becoming even more serious.

In moments like these, there is no job description or training manual that tells someone what to do. There is only a choice and Michael chose to act.

We are incredibly proud to recognize Michael for his quick thinking, willingness to help, and commitment to the safety and well-being of others. His actions reflect the values that make our team exceptional and embody what Beyond the Call of Duty truly means.

This month, we're proud to recognize team members who continue to go above and beyond and represent Grayson Carter & Son Contracting with excellence.

👏 Jeremie James was recognized by one of our customers and partners for completing one of the best proof rolls they have ever seen. Outstanding work, Jeremie!

👏 Kelley Johnson was recognized for taking the time to explain to civil engineering students on the Arsenal how core samples are checked and why the process is important. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping educate the next generation of industry professionals.

👏 Sam Chaney was recognized for his exceptional work on the Highway 20 and Highway 207 paving projects. Your dedication to quality and attention to detail do not go unnoticed.

Nothing brings a crew together like a hot breakfast! 🍳🥓

Yesterday morning, we fired up the griddles and served breakfast to our truck shop team, drivers, and asphalt plant employees as part of our ongoing commitment to recognizing the people who help keep Grayson Carter & Son Contracting moving every day.

Their hard work, dedication, and focus on safety do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for everything they do and proud to continue celebrating the crews who make our success possible!

🚧 Meet our 2026 Interns 🚧

Our 2026 internship program officially started this week, and we are so excited to have this group on board! They are already getting a firsthand look at the hard work, teamwork, and dedication that goes into what we do every day.

This summer, they will gain hands-on experience, learn from some of the best in the industry, and get a true feel of our industry. We are excited to invest in the next generation and watch each of them grow along the way!

This Memorial Day, our hearts are with the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms, opportunities, and moments with our families each day.

For Grayson Carter & Son Contracting, Inc., Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that freedom has never come without sacrifice, and that behind every fallen hero is a family, a story, and a legacy that deserves to be remembered and honored.

As a company rooted in service, hard work, and community, we are incredibly thankful for those who gave everything in defense of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy today. This Memorial Day, we remember their courage, honor their sacrifice, and lift up the families and loved ones who continue to carry that loss each day.

We had a wonderful day at Blue Springs Elementary School for the Clements FFA Farm Day speaking to students about civil construction! 🚧 🦺

We were proud to recently join the City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the Tollgate Trail Improvements project.

This project included establishing the walking trail corridor through the placement of aggregate fill, installing additional concrete pipe and headwalls for improved drainage, placing asphalt for the finished trail surface, and constructing a stand up curb to safely separate the walking trail from traffic. The project also included the addition of a pedestrian crosswalk connecting trail to trail at the intersection of Fearn Street and Monte Sano.

At Grayson Carter & Son Contracting, Inc., we are proud to help build infrastructure that enhances connectivity, safety, and quality of life throughout North Alabama. Thank you to the City of Huntsville for the opportunity to be part of another project helping move our communities forward.
