Why is your wood fence starting to lean?

Two common causes we see are fence posts that weren’t set deep enough or not enough concrete around the posts to properly support the fence.

The posts are the foundation of a wood fence. If they aren’t properly set from the beginning, the rest of the fence can eventually start showing it.

There can be other causes depending on the fence and site conditions, but proper post installation is a big part of building a fence that holds up over time.

It all starts with showing up.

Before we talk about craftsmanship, materials, warranties, or the finished product, there’s something even more basic that matters:

Doing what you said you were going to do.

Show up. Be prepared. Respect the property. Do the work right.

It sounds simple, but we believe that’s where a great customer experience begins.

It all starts with showing up. The rest is craftsmanship. 🦅

Our toughest inspector showed up for the final walkthrough. 🐶😂

This new black chain-link fence gives this pup a secure area to enjoy outside while giving the homeowners something just as important: peace of mind.

Black chain link is a great option when you want security and durability without completely blocking the view of the property.

Judging by that face, he’s still deciding whether our work meets his standards. 😂

Secure yard. Happy dog. Peace of mind. 🐾✅

Got a little escape artist at home? 🐶

Not all aluminum fencing is the same. For this backyard, we installed double-picket aluminum panels, designed with much tighter spacing along the bottom portion of the fence.

That makes it a great option for smaller dogs, skinny dogs, puppies, and professional escape artists who might be able to squeeze through the wider spacing of a standard aluminum fence. 😂

And you still get everything people love about aluminum:

🐾 Better containment for smaller pets
🌲 Visibility into the backyard and woods
✨ Clean, upscale appearance
💪 Durable and low-maintenance
🏡 No bulky privacy fence blocking the view

The escape artist can still enjoy the backyard.

He just can’t leave it anymore. 😂🔒

Can you stain a brand-new wood fence right after installation? 🪵

No. New pressure-treated lumber needs time to dry before accepting stain properly.

Here in Georgia and North Carolina, we generally recommend waiting at least 30–45 days before staining a new wood fence.

Give the wood time to dry, then protect your investment.

It’s the little details that change the entire look. 👀

Would you pay extra for these upgrades? 🔨🏡

This beautiful escape artist is getting his own fenced-in space. 🐶😂

His owners wanted a way for him to enjoy the front yard without constantly being on a leash, but because it’s the front of the home, they also wanted something that would look great and preserve the open feel of the property.

The solution: 111 linear feet of custom 5’ tall flat-top double-picket aluminum fencing with a single gate.

The tighter picket spacing adds another level of security for their four-legged escape artist, while the aluminum keeps the property looking clean and upscale.

Sometimes a fence isn’t just about defining a property line.

It’s about freedom for him and peace of mind for them. ❤️🐾

Stay tuned for this one!

Sometimes the best fence for a property isn’t just one type of fence.

For this project, the homeowner wanted privacy where privacy mattered without losing the beautiful wooded views surrounding the property. 🌳

Along the front and the left side shared with the neighboring property, we installed a wood privacy fence to create separation, privacy, and a more enclosed feel.

But along the back and right side, where the property opens directly into the woods, we switched to aluminum fencing.

The aluminum keeps the property secure while maintaining visibility into the wooded area instead of blocking it behind a solid privacy fence.

The result is the perfect combination:

🪵 Wood where privacy matters
🌳 Aluminum where visibility matters
🏡 One continuous fence designed around how the property is actually used

A fence doesn’t have to be the same material around the entire yard. Sometimes mixing materials creates a much better finished product. Both functionally and visually.

That’s why understanding the property, the neighbors, the views, pets, privacy needs, and how the homeowner plans to use the space is so important before recommending a fence.

357 feet of horizontal privacy fencing in Jonesboro, GA. 🪵

This property called for more than a standard privacy fence. The homeowners wanted privacy and security while keeping a clean, modern look that complemented the size and natural setting of the property.

Our team installed 357 linear feet of 6’ tall pressure-treated horizontal wood fencing, built with:

• 4x4 pressure-treated posts
• 5/4” x 6” pressure-treated deck boards installed horizontally
• 6’ overall fence height
• Custom wood gates with black hardware
• Layout designed to follow the property and existing grade

Using 5/4 deck boards gives this horizontal fence a substantial appearance while the horizontal lines create a completely different look from a traditional vertical privacy fence.

On a project of this size, the details matter. Keeping hundreds of feet of horizontal boards consistent requires careful layout, post placement, spacing, elevations, and attention to how each section transitions across the property.

The end result is 357 feet of privacy, security, and a completely new look for this Jonesboro property.

Another one built by the Hawk Fences team. 🦅
