🏗️ Big project, big responsibility.

This week our crews are gearing up to tear off and replace the entire roof on the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) headquarters in Midtown Atlanta.

That skyline in the background isn’t just a nice view — it’s a reminder of what’s under our feet. GTRI has been solving hard problems in applied research since 1934, from national security to advancing the human condition. The people inside this building do work that matters, and they deserve a roof that protects it: their labs, their equipment, and the teams who show up every day.

A full tear-off on an active facility is a serious undertaking. It takes careful planning, tight coordination, and a crew that treats safety and quality as non-negotiable. That’s the part we’re most proud of — not just the finished roof, but how we get there: protecting the building, respecting the people working beneath us, and doing it right the first time.

To our field teams heading up top this week — stay sharp, stay safe, and let’s give GTRI a roof built to last. 🧰

The Whitco crew is in the thick of a full tear-off and replacement on an operating food manufacturing facility — production hasn’t missed a beat below us.

What’s going on this roof:

•       KEE PVC single-ply membrane — chemical-, grease-, and UV-resistant (purpose-built for food-plant rooftops)
•      New Polyiso insulation — major thermal upgrade and lower energy bills for the long haul
•      Full JM manufacturer warranty backing the system

Re-roofing a live production facility is a different animal: phased scheduling, daily clean-down, food-safety protocols, fall protection, and a crew that respects what’s happening under the deck. Hats off to the team out there putting in the work day after day. 💪

Sometimes the best view of your next project is from the one you’re finishing.

This is the scene from inside Georgia’s new Legislative Office Building — and the gold dome you see through the opening is the Georgia State Capitol, our next stop.

The Whitco team is wrapping up the Legislative Office Building now. From there, we install a radius standing seam roof on the skybridge that will connect these two buildings — some of the most demanding metal roofing work in the trade, and exactly the kind of challenge our crews are built for. Then we move across and get to work on the Capitol itself.

That red tower crane in the shot is the skybridge going up. Two historic projects. One team. A front-row seat to a piece of Georgia history.

New additions to the Whitco fleet. 🚚 Big thanks to our friends/client, SONS Auto Group for rolling multiple trucks into our Atlanta HQ at the same time — clean, coordinated, on time. That’s what a real partnership looks like. Pacific Northwest to South Florida. Vegas to the Eastern Seaboard. Our crews cover serious ground for the clients who count on us. 108,022 SF. Zero production downtime.

Whitco Roofing just completed a full roof replacement at La Chiquita Tortilla’s main manufacturing plant — while the facility stayed fully operational.

▪️ Removed existing ballast rock and EPDM system
▪️ Installed mechanically fastened GAF 60 mil TPO
▪️ Added 60 Signature Series clear-over-white skylights

Phased installation, weekend shutdowns for high-impact work, and tight coordination with facility engineers kept the plant running through every phase.

This is the kind of work we specialize in — complex reroofs in live environments where planning and ex*****on matter most.
