Every step of the way this project was pure pleasure, for the homeowners are wonderful people. I am in the designing stage of planning another patio with an arbor for a new client.

Do you know which pollinator this is? I only see them a couple of times a year in my own Gardens. This beautiful guy showed up at my client’s house before I even got Miss Molly butterfly bush in the ground! It amazes me how the pollinators will come before or during installation to a place that never had many flowers to begin with.

The elusive hummingbird moth showed up to a job site I am working on that up until yesterday had only rocks and dirt and no flowers. It amazes me how the pollinators find the flowers even before I plant them.

I love how magnificent nature is in her simplest and most magnificent scenes and moments. Flowers, water, clouds all exude emotions. Yet perhaps because it's only twice per year out here, or so far, far away, watching the night sky and wishing upon shooting stars brings me closest to the spirituality, excitement and romance of nature and her entire universe. To wishing upon a falling star! Two years ago I saw four huge shooting stars in front of my house.

If your area is like mine for the last two weeks, we have had a lot of "little" rains, drizzle and some showers. This makes it hard to figure out if you need to water your yard. A simple rain gauge is a great way to see if your yard has received adequate water from the sky or the ground. In metro Atlanta most of the plants and lawns typically need 1 inch of water per week. A good rule of thumb is to water one half inch twice per week for the lawn, and 2-3 times per week for shrubs and flowers. I have a cute little rain gauge on my deck and so far this week I haven't received enough rain to add up to an inch, but I think my plants and lawn have had so much constant moisture on them that I feel the leaves need a break and not watering. If the hydrangeas start to droop, I will go back to the rule of thumb and turn on the sprinklers to get to 1 inch per week. .
