There’s a certain quiet confidence that comes with a project when it’s fully dialed in 🏠

When we stepped on-site for each of this builds, the existing roof was showing serious signs of wear. Widespread granule loss, tired valley seals, and aging pipe collars that were right on the verge of leaking. Staying protected during hurricane Isaias!

As hurricane Isaias moves inland across Georgia this weekend, I wanted to share some tips to help you stay safe and informed!

Even though Isaias made landfall along the Gulf Coast, systems this size can have an impact across the state.

Wind gusts from 40-60 mph are expected, especially in the north GA mountains. Make sure to bring in any patio furniture, and take down or secure any holiday decorations, trampolines, or anything that could become a projectile down the street and into your neighbors’ home!

With the combination of ground saturation and high winds, there’s also a chance of widespread power outages. Remember to charge your phones and devices now, and have any medications and supplies you may need on hand.

There is also the chance for flash flooding. Low lying areas, creek beds, and areas with poor drainage can flood quickly. You may not always be able to tell how deep standing water is, so remember: turn around, don’t drown!

On the insurance side of things, here are a few additional tips to help in the event of a loss.

- Go ahead and take before photos and videos today. If you do have a loss, this can make the claims process much smoother. Having a time stamped record of your pre-loss conditions and belongings is always a good idea!

- If a fallen branch or tree limb hits your home- take immediate steps to cover/tarp the area as soon as it’s safe and prevent further damage. - Any damage to your vehicle caused by fallen limbs or storm damage is covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance- not your home policy. Make sure you know your auto coverage limits and deductibles.

- Remember that rising groundwater is NOT covered under a standard home policy- this requires a separate Flood Insurance policy.

Most Importantly- STAY SAFE! If you experience immediate danger or a life-threatening emergency, call 911. Stay safe, stay inside, and don't hesitate to reach out to me our office once the storm passes if you need assistance filing a claim or have any questions.

💀 Jumped out the truck like I was still 25. My body had other plans. 😂 Moral of the story? Leave the daredevil stuff to the young guys and the hard falls to the old roof you’ve been ignoring.
