Congratulations to Joey Melton, who brought home third place for South Carolina at the CRMCA Mixer Rodeo Championship this weekend! 👏

A few Thomas Concrete teammates were in the stands to cheer on all of our talented drivers. Great job representing the team, Joey - and thanks to everyone who came out to support Joey, Kurt, and Jonathan.

💡 Our Augusta team recently supplied approximately 160 cubic yards of heavyweight concrete for Holtec International as part of work involving spent fuel containment structures at Plant Vogtle, the largest nuclear power plant in the United States.

The concrete was used in four spent fuel containment cylinders. To meet the project requirements, the mix incorporated hematite, an iron oxide mineral that increases the unit weight of the concrete and provides additional radiation shielding.

It's not every day our team gets to work on a project like this. Specialized applications call for specialized mixes, and we're proud of the Augusta team for delivering the material and service the job required. Plant Vogtle isn’t your everyday jobsite, and this definitely wasn’t your everyday concrete mix.

🏫 School may be out for summer, but construction is in session at James B. Edwards Elementary School.

Last week marked our first concrete pour with Bottomline Construction at the James B. Edwards Elementary School renovation and addition in Mount Pleasant, SC. Over the course of the project, we’ll deliver approximately 2,500 cubic yards of concrete, primarily from our North Charleston plant.

The improvements will help create a modern learning environment for students while supporting the continued growth of one of the Lowcountry’s fastest-growing communities.
