When water finds a way in, it doesn't take long to cause serious hidden damageโ€”and this recent project had one of the wilder surprises weโ€™ve seen in a while!

The Problem:A persistent, long-term leak at the roofโ€™s gable cornice return had been letting rainwater sneak inside undetected. Over time, the moisture completely rotted through the structural roof decking.

The crazy part? The siding panels along the patio ceiling were acting like a retention basinโ€”holding roughly 40 gallons of trapped rainwater. There was a literal pond sitting right inside the attic framing!

Our Solution:

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Demolition & Water Removal: Safely tore out the water-logged, moldy ceiling panels and fully drained all standing water.

๐Ÿชต Decking & Framing Replacement: Removed all rotted OSB decking and inspected/reinforced the surrounding structural framing.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Fresh Sheathing & Flashing: Installed solid, new roof decking properly flashed and sealed at the transition points to ensure water stays outside where it belongs.

๐Ÿ  Finish Restoration: Prepped the patio overhang for new, clean ceiling panels, dealed and painted to match.
