Leadership Starts in the Field

Rusty originally focused on Prewett Pest Control’s marketing, sales, and company culture—but he knew that truly understanding the business meant experiencing the work firsthand.

During a technician shortage, he ran pest control routes in Auburn, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa—even on football Saturdays. That time in the field gave him a firsthand look at the challenges service professionals face and revealed opportunities to improve routing and efficiency.

From a Journal Entry to Nearly 4,000 Five-Star Reviews

Prewett Pest Control began as an idea Rusty wrote in his journal and shared with his family in 2019. Just months later, the pandemic hit—but the company still launched in Auburn in 2020.

Since then, Prewett has expanded into Baldwin County, West Georgia, and North Alabama while surpassing 1,000 customers, exceeding $1 million in annual revenue, and earning nearly 4,000 five-star Google reviews.

Now, the theme for 2026 is “Level Up”—challenging the entire team to create an even better experience for customers and employees.

Meet Dustin Nelson: Leading Pest Control on Alabama’s Gulf Coast

With more than 17 years in the pest control industry, Dustin Nelson leads Prewett Pest Control’s Gulf Coast service center with a focus on customers, team development, and long-term growth.

Today, Prewett serves more than 2,600 customers across Baldwin County and continues to grow by approximately 120–140 customers each month. Whether it’s general pest control, termite protection, or mosquito control, Dustin believes caring for employees leads to better service for every homeowner.
