Here are tips if you wake up with no water during the freeze:
If you try to turn a faucet on and there is no hot or cold water then the best thing to do is to leave your faucets on (whichever side doesn’t have water coming out). If it's hot water only then try to get the room that the water heater is in as warm as possible. If it's both hot and cold then try to find where your main line may be exposed to the cold and wrap it with a towel or shirt.
If your hot water stops working and you have a tankless water heater you should turn on all of your faucets and use a hair dryer to try to thaw out your water lines (if possible) for 10-15 minutes then you will need to wrap the water lines with towels or shirts to insulate. Leave the faucets open until you have water flowing out on the hot side.
