Homeowner had some termite damage, we removed the damaged material and cleaned the wall and floor near the affected area with vinegar.

We installed new baseboards, then caulked and painted. It turned out nice!

Here is the finished product of the job we took over for a very stressed homeowner.

She was told that penny tile wasn’t possible to be installed in her bathroom. Nothing is impossible. With that being said, penny tile is the single most difficult tile to install well. It takes patience and practice.

The floors are white penny round mosaic.
The walls are 3”x6” white hand crafted subway. (Hand crafted tiles are imperfect, they have wavy edges and they are all a bit different from each other)
The grout is “silver”.

Overall the job came out well. Everyone was very pleased in the end.

This is one clandestine thing we seem to run into often. When you tear out a shower for remodeling you need to make sure your backer board is spanned from stud to stud. I have seen many “professionals” try to caulk the edge of the backer board to the edge of the drywall and while that does hold for a while, it is destined to fail.

Always, grab a 2x4 and add a stud where it is needed. This is an easy, cheap and permanent fix for this simple problem!!

Needless to say, whomever forgot the stud also forgot a paint brush. My best guess, they used a sponge if not a wadded up t-shirt for a waterproofed applicator. Who knew there was such comedy in the tile game???
