Fruit Tree Pruning in the Pacific Northwest: Why Timing and Professional Arborists Matter

Fruit trees aren’t pruned for size — they’re pruned for biology. Every cut affects sunlight, airflow, disease pressure, and future fruit production.

In the Pacific Northwest, the most important pruning window is late winter to early spring, before bud break. Miss it, and you miss the chance to set your tree up for healthy growth and reliable harvests.

Improper or mistimed pruning leads to dense canopies, more disease, weak limbs, and declining fruit quality.

Learn why timing and technique matter — and when to prune — on our website.

Spring into Tree Care: Becoming Stewards as You Head Back Outdoors
New on the Blog: [Link Below!]

Hey neighbors,
As the days get longer and the sun makes a comeback, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with your yard—and your trees.

After a long, wet winter, our trees can be quietly struggling in ways we don’t always notice at first glance. Before you dive into backyard barbecues and spring gardening, take a slow walk and ask yourself:
Are my trees thriving—or just surviving?

What to look for:

Mushrooms or fungal growth at the base

Cracks or cavities in trunks

Sparse leafing or dead branches

New leaning or shifting

Even subtle signs can point to deeper issues—and that’s where I come in.

Why call a licensed arborist?
Because it's not just about curb appeal. It's about safety, long-term tree health, and preventing problems before they get serious.

I’ve also included a great resource in the blog about wood-decay fungi—especially helpful if you’ve noticed mushrooms growing around your trees.
