A floating vanity paired with wall-mounted faucets brings a light, uplifting feel to this recently completed Folsom bathroom remodel.

Designed in close collaboration with the homeowners, the space was thoughtfully reimagined to better suit their height while transforming an outdated 1980s bathroom into a tranquil, spa-like retreat.

Existing windows that flanked the previous vanity area were re-used, and by carrying the countertop seamlessly to the windowsill, we created a subtle yet meaningful connection to the surrounding woodland landscape; bringing the outdoors in.

This bridge is the convergence of steel, glass, concrete and wood - all materials with very unique and different properties, assembled in a fashion to keep water out while looking minimal and modern, with the purpose of allowing people on the main floor of the home to access the rear yard.

When the homeowners purchased this property there was no main floor access to the rear yard without a long journey down the stairs, through the first floor, and finally cutting through the primary suite.  was hired to provide a solution, who conceived of a steel and glass walkway to connect the two.

Once built, this bridge created easy passage from the kitchen to the exterior space, while maintaining quality natural light to the patio and bedroom below.

This breakfast nook had quality materials that were unfortunately from decades past.

Without undertaking an extensive remodel - the flooring was re-finished, the cabinetry was painted, and new trim was applied to bring the space into a more recent decade.  A simple light fixture capped off the refreshed space.

Swipe to see how much difference a few well-planned updates can make.

When a family is looking to expand their home, a common area to find undeveloped square footage is in the attic.  However, due to the nature of roofs, getting natural light to that space can be difficult.

In this project architect solved the issue by installing large windows at the gable ends, with partial height interior walls topped with glass above.  This allowed the natural light to illuminate the center of the home where this bathroom was located, with some additional sunlight from the carefully located skylight.

The light coming in from multiple directions, in what was previously a very dark and uninhabited space, created  comfortable and appealing additional living space for this growing family.

This is a breakfast nook from a project we completed around 2013.  What’s interesting about this specific nook is that the tabletop was originally built to the wrong specification.  Instead of wide plank redwood, it was built with narrow plank and was rejected by the owners.  Being young and low on furniture I took the rejected tabletop home, added my own legs, and began using it as a table.

Possessions are interesting - that table has followed me to many different residences over the years and has received all the marks that are inevitable when a softwood table like this meets a growing family. I have learned to appreciate these marks as records of good times spent with family - and I love the idea that my table has a sister table, shown here, that has seen similar good times in the home of one of our clients.

Many thanks to the organizers for hosting such a well-run and meaningful event. We’re proud to support education in our community and look forward to next year.

A transformative renovation of a 1500-square-foot Victorian jewel box in the heart of San Francisco’s Lower Haight. Originally built at the turn of the century, the home had a unique charm, but the space was limited and lacked modern functionality. We worked closely with the client and Mark Reilly Architecture to not only restore the architectural beauty of the home but also increase its square footage by 50%, creating a master suite, roof deck, and kitchen addition.

This small condo renovation focused on color and built in functionality to make a small space feel right and functional.  The designers at specified a built-in cabinetry bench at the dining area, a very custom vanity in the master bathroom, and a custom closet space with a built-in dresser in the master bedroom where the previously non-functional crawl space had been.  The project was then finished with bright colors that made the home feel as lively as it was organized.
