A little behind the scenes on a recent rodent job. 🐀

We started with an inspection, figured out what was going on, placed traps in the areas that made sense, and ended up making a couple catches.

Best part was seeing how happy the homeowners were to finally start getting the problem handled.

This is a pretty good look at what an actual rodent appointment with Gingerly can look like.

Always check before you grab something that’s been sitting outside for a while… this is why.

We came across this wasp nest on a property in Loomis today. We find nests tucked into eaves and around rooflines all the time, but this one decided an old wheelbarrow was the perfect spot to build a home.

It’s a good reminder to take a quick look before grabbing or moving things that have been sitting around the yard for a while. Wheelbarrows, patio furniture, toys, sheds and other protected areas can all make pretty good hiding spots.

Quick DIY tip: If you notice wasps consistently flying in and out of the same area, there’s a good chance a nest is nearby. Watch from a safe distance for a few minutes and you can usually figure out where they’re coming from.

And if you do get stung, wash the area and use a cold pack for the pain and swelling. If you have trouble breathing, swelling around your face or throat, dizziness, or other signs of a serious allergic reaction, seek emergency medical care.

Definitely not the first place I would have expected to find this one.

This is a heavy spider mite infestation.

Spider mites aren’t actually insects—they’re tiny relatives of spiders that feed on plants by piercing the leaves and sucking out their contents. As they multiply, they create the fine webbing you see in this photo.

Why does this matter around your home?

🌱 Spider mites, aphids, and other sap-feeding pests produce a sugary substance called honeydew.

🐜 Ants love honeydew and will actually protect these pests from natural predators so they can keep feeding on it. That’s one reason ant trails often lead right to trees, shrubs, or garden plants before making their way toward your home.

Healthy landscaping can play a bigger role in pest prevention than many people realize.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’re treating spider mites with neem oil or horticultural oil, apply it in the evening or early morning when temperatures are cooler. This helps protect the plant and gives the product time to dry before the heat of the day.

🚨 If you’re starting to notice more wasps around your home, you’re not imagining it.

We’ve been finding a lot more active nests lately, and this one definitely had something to say about me showing up. 😂 As soon as I treated it, they came pouring out, so I took a quick step back and let the product do its job.

This is exactly why we encourage homeowners to deal with wasps early. A small nest can turn into a much bigger problem in a hurry, especially around patios, eaves, garages, and outdoor living spaces where families spend their time.

If you’re in Auburn, Loomis, Newcastle, Lincoln, or Roseville, now is a good time to take a walk around your home and look up. Catching a nest early is a whole lot easier than dealing with one that’s been growing for weeks.

🚨 Ant season is here… and we’re finding them everywhere.

We’ve been finding a lot more ant activity lately as these temperatures continue to heat up. Some homeowners are already seeing them inside, while others haven’t noticed anything yet—but now is the time we’re really paying attention.

When we’re servicing homes, we’re checking trees, mulch beds, planter areas, and anywhere ants are likely to be nesting so we can get ahead of them before they decide your kitchen is next. A little prevention now can save a lot of frustration later.

If you’ve started seeing ants around your property, don’t ignore them—they usually don’t get better on their own.

It doesn’t take long.

This black widow went from active to curled up in just seconds after treatment. 🕷️

Black widows are one of the most common spiders we find around homes in Auburn, Roseville, Lincoln, Loomis, Newcastle, and throughout Placer County. They love hiding in dark, undisturbed areas like fences, sheds, wood piles, irrigation boxes, and around foundations.

This is actually exactly what we want to see.

The bait is completely gone, which tells us rodents have been actively feeding. That’s a good sign because it means the bait is doing its job. We’ve been servicing this home for about two months now, and the homeowner told us they haven’t seen a single rodent inside the house since we started the program.

We’ll refill the station today and continue monitoring until the activity is gone.

In California, rodent bait is required to be placed inside locked, tamper-resistant bait stations. These stations help protect kids, pets, and non-target wildlife while allowing rodents to safely access the bait.

Using locked bait stations also helps reduce the risk of secondary poisoning compared to many older rodent control methods, making them one of the safest and most responsible ways to manage rodent activity.

An empty bait station might not look exciting, but to us, it’s exactly what we hope to find.

First stop of the day here in Auburn, and we’re already getting results.

These homeowners had been hearing rodents in the house, so we set enclosed snap traps in the areas where we found the most activity. This morning, we had two roof rats waiting for us.

A lot of people ask why we place traps tight against the wall instead of out in the open. Rats naturally like to travel along edges, using their whiskers to help them navigate and feel their surroundings. Finding those travel routes is one of the biggest keys to getting results.

One thing we’ve noticed this year is just how active everything has been. Wasps, spiders, ants… and rodents too. We’ve had quite a few customers tell us they haven’t had rodent issues in 10 or even 20 years, and now all of a sudden they’re hearing scratching in the attic or walls.

Catching them is a great start, but the bigger goal is figuring out how they got inside so we can help keep them from coming back.

Every home has a story, and we’re grateful these homeowners trusted us to help with theirs.
