What do YOU do with your eggshells?

Trash can? Garbage disposal? Compost bin? Garden?

While there are a few different ways to get rid of them, one is definitely NOT plumber-approved.

Despite the old myth that eggshells sharpen disposal blades, they can actually contribute to buildup and cause issues for your disposal and drain.

When it comes to your plumbing, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

🧊🧊 Does putting ice down the garbage disposal really help sharpen the blades?! 🧊🧊

Nope! That’s just a common myth. Garbage disposals use blunt impellers, so there is no sharp blades needing sharpening. However, ice can help clean the walls and impellers by knocking off food debris and grease that gets stuck. This can help decrease odors as the bacteria-ridden food particles get scrubbed and flushed away.

Bonus tip: add a little dish soap or baking soda for some extra cleaning power.

Fall is coming… and so are the roots!

This massive root intrusion completely clogged this drain and brought things to a standstill.

We replaced a small section of the sewer line, helping our customer avoid a bigger problem and potentially a much bigger bill down the road.

Our first Community Care giveaway meant a little more to us than just fixing a pipe.

We recently had the honor of helping an 83-year-old veteran with a broken kitchen sink drain pipe. Following his recent kidney surgery, this unfortunate situation left him unable to prepare meals in his own home.

He lives in a home for veterans supported by Soldier On, an organization providing housing and support to veterans in our community. We’re so grateful for the work they do to help veterans have a safe and stable place to call home. ❤️🤍🩵

We replaced the broken pipe and got his kitchen sink back up and running.

His bill: $0.00.

This was the first giveaway through Dow Plumbing Services Community Care, a program created to help local individuals and families who are struggling with a plumbing issue they can’t afford to fix.

Each month, we’ll provide up to $500 in free plumbing services to a local family in need.
