Concrete cancer in a pool is one of those things homeowners don't see coming. The structure starts deteriorating from the inside out and at some point there's no repairing it - you're either replacing the whole pool or making a different decision entirely. This family chose the second option. Pulled it out, rebuilt the grade, and turned that space into a backyard they actually use every day. If you're dealing with concrete cancer, know that removing it isn't giving up - it's making room for something better.

A pool without landscaping is just a hole in the ground. The plants, the pavers, the lighting, the outdoor kitchen, the fencing - that's what turns it into a backyard worth living in. This family had the pool. We came in and built everything around it. New patios, custom outdoor kitchen, fire pit, pergola, full planting throughout front and back, new railing, pathways, planters - every single detail that makes a pool feel like it belongs somewhere.

You don't need a massive lot for this. Small yards are actually some of our favorite projects because every single decision matters. The right pavers over grass instantly make a space feel bigger. A cowboy pool takes up a fraction of the footprint of a traditional pool and gives you everything you actually need. Planting along fences adds privacy and greenery without eating into your square footage. Gravel between pavers instead of solid concrete keeps it from feeling heavy. The secret to a small yard isn't working around the space - it's working with it.
