Before & after on this fig ivy

This stuff can get out of control pretty quick if you leave it alone too long.

We didn’t remove it — just cleaned it up.

• knocked off all the dry, dusty leaves
• trimmed back the loose/wild growth
• cut out the dead vines

Just enough to bring it back in without losing that soft, creeping look 🌿

Spring migration is underway 🐦

Turning off outdoor lights at night helps migrating birds navigate safely through our cities.

A simple action that makes a big difference.

Spring migration is upon us, which means it's time to go Lights Out, Texas! 80% of North American birds that migrate do so at night, using the moon and stars to navigate. By turning off or reducing nighttime lights, birds aren't distracted by light pollution from cities and are able to navigate safely.

Help us spread the word about the Lights Out, Texas! campaign; in March, come pick up a FREE yard sign from one of the participating Austin Public Library branches. Learn more here.

Another show-stopper blooming across Austin right now: Redbud 💗

These bright clusters of flowers appear before the leaves, lighting up the branches and signaling that spring is officially underway.

Texas mountain laurels are in full bloom — and the fragrance is unreal. 💜

Most people know the classic purple, but this white variation is a rare treat.

The Ravenea majesty palms give height and movement, while the monstera anchors the base with bold texture.

This little side yard is one of my favorite spots on the property 🌿

There’s a lot layered into a small space — soft groundcover, grassy texture weaving through the stone, a few subtle blooms, and the yuccas giving it that strong, spiky structure.

Mostly shade. Mostly evergreen. 🌱
It stays calm even when the rest of the garden is doing a lot.

We may not have gotten much rain, but this lingering ice is still contributing moisture ❄️💧

As it melts gradually, water is able to soak deeply into the soil — the kind of irrigation plants respond best to.

Slow, steady moisture supports healthier root systems and long-term plant resilience 🌱
