Nice patch of Prunus rivularis in bee caves. Site slated for being bulldozed unfortunately but fruit is mature enough we can harvest it. Maybe coming soon at our farm.

Its is the Genista caterpillar on mountain laurels. Not harmful to the plant but very unsightly. If you are curious or concerned, here is the Texas AM take on it. We rarely treat for it but if you feel the need to, a bioinsecticide like Bt or Spinosad will control them. They only eat leaves so the stems will leaf out again.

Mark your calendar for The Garden Conservancy’s Open Day on Saturday, November 8th!

This exciting garden tour will be held between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and showcase five unique landscapes across Central Austin, from an eclectic evergreen haven to a terraced retreat abundant with pollinator-friendly perennials.

The featured gardens are:

- Artist’s Eclectic Eden by Steve Twigger
- Belmont Parkway by Studio Balcones
- Canyon Vista by Heather Lyle of Native Knowledge
- Este Garden by Anamaria Gutierrez
- Pollinators’ Paradise by Leah Churner of Delta Dawn Gardens

The gardeners and designers will be on-site, so you’ll have a chance to say hello and ask questions.
